Bij toeval kwam ik op de ArtStation pagina van Victor Chombeau uit, waar helaas slecht 1 G.I. Joe illustratie uit 2020 te vinden is. Wel is het een hele toffe, van Zarana, met daarbij foto's van verschillende fases van deze illustratie. Als kers op de taart geeft Chombeau er ook nog uitleg bij, dus dat heb ik voor jullie vertaald naar het Nederlands.

Waar er ook maar problemen zijn, G.I. Joe is daar!... wacht, deze is in plaats daarvan een vijand!!! Ze is de zus van Zartan, Zarana, en zou mijn illustratie zijn voor mijn "vergeten dames uit oude tekenfilmseries uit de jaren 80". Ik moet een kortere titel bedenken.
Wherever there's trouble, G.I. Joe is there!... wait, this one is an enemy instead!!! She's Zartan's sister Zarana, and would be my illustration to be made in my "forgotten ladies form old cartoon tv series of the 80's". I need to think of a shorter title.
De standaard Poser-modellen zien er vlak en onaangenaam uit, dus ik moet wat tijd besteden aan het opnieuw vormgeven van de gelaatstrekken van het model met behulp van Zarana's foto's van de tv en zangeres Wendy O. Williams (de persoon op wie Zarana is gebaseerd).
The standard default Poser models has a flat and unpleasant appearance, so I need to dedicate some time to re-shape the model's facial features using Zarana's pictures from the TV and singer Wendy O. Williams (who is the person who's Zarana is based on).
Met alleen de rekwisieten van Poser (inclusief motorfiets) heb ik een eerste weergave van de afbeelding gemaakt.
Using just Poser's props (motorcycle included), I created a first render of the image.
Nu is het tijd om Zarana's pantser te maken en extra details toe te voegen.
Now it is time to create Zarana's armor, and add additional details.
Ik voeg meer details toe, rekening houdend met de originele afbeeldingen, om ervoor te zorgen dat de uiteindelijke illustratie zo veel mogelijk op het personage lijkt.
I add more details taking into account the original images to make sure that the final illustration is as similar to the character as possible.
Als je een GI Joe-fan bent, weet je dat hun meest herkenbare voertuig de Thunder Machine is, dus heb ik de voorkant van een blauwe Pontiac op de achtergrond toegevoegd.
If you're a GI Joe fan, you know their most recognizable vehicle is the Thunder Machine, so I added a blue Pontiac's front on the background.

Een eerbetoon aan de vrouwelijke personages uit de animatieserie uit de jaren '80. Dit is de vierde illustratie uit de serie en is opgedragen aan Zartans zus Zarana.

A tribute to the female characters of the animated series of the '80s. This is the fourth illustration of the series and is dedicated to Zartan's sister Zarana.

Zarana is een van die personages die heel weinig werd gebruikt in de tv-show G.I Joe. Ondanks het feit dat er vrijwel geen andere vrouw onder de schurken was, behalve de barones, verscheen Zarana maar heel zelden. In de strip verscheen ze tenminste vaker en had ze wat relevantere interventies.
Zarana is one of those characters that was very little used in the G.I Joe TV show. Despite the fact that there was practically no other woman among the villains, except the Baroness, Zarana appeared on very few occasions. At least in the comic she appeared more frequently and had some more relevant interventions.
Dat was 'm weer voor vandaag, hopelijk vonden jullie dit net zo tof als dat ik het vond. 😎👑
